The heroic journey model works with many stories - mythology, short stories, novels, even movies (Star Wars, Spiderman, etc)

This file contains a note outlining the basics of the heroic journey (Departure, Initiation, Return) as well as the events or steps that occur during each (birth, call to action, challenges faced, etc.)
I use this as an overhead transparency (OHT) and the one-page note can be altered to suit your needs.

Also included is an assignment to create a graphic representation of the heroic journey. It allows the students to get creative while using the information they have learned from the note.

Lastly, there is a worksheet for the students to fill out either as a review, a quiz or a scaffold to the note or assignment above.
