This zipped product contains 3 separate files related to the history of the Christmas tree and the use of evergreens in winter festivals. Files include:
* Christmas Tree History - A reproducible article/reading passage on the origins of the Christmas tree, along with 4 reproducible pages of templates for creating an accordion shape book. After reading the article, students write a summary of each major event in the history of the Christmas tree and compile a shape book timeline. Directions for creating the book, an answer key, and suggested web resources for further research are also included. (6 pages in all)
* Christmas Tree Timeline - This 3 page file contains teaching tips and suggestions, including internet resources, a printable Christmas Tree Facts sheet, and reproducible cards suitable for creating a timeline on the history of the Christmas tree. This product is included in both a pdf and Word document format.
* Illustrated Tree Timeline - A nine page file including suggestions for use and an answer key. Students read/compile a reproducible minibook about the history of the Christmas tree, and illustrate each page by adding details to a tree outline to match the events described on the page. This product is included in both a pdf and Open Office Draw (.odg) format.
