When it comes to counting coins, some of my firsties have a hard time �counting on�, starting with the largest denomination and counting on from there. Instead of �five, ten, eleven� I will hear �five, ten, fifteen� (for two nickels and a penny). Or rather than �ten, twenty, twenty-one�, they�ll count �ten, twenty, thirty� (for two dimes and a penny), so I came up with this little activity for practicing counting on skills. You can choose to keep the hives two to a page, or for more versatility, cut them in half into individual cards. I hope your students enjoy this activity and that it keeps them �bizzy� while they are learning!

Great resource and thanks for making it with Canadian money. Please make sure the coins are replicas of Canadian coins (ones in use not silver or gold coins)

Thank you so much. One of my thumbnails does show gold coins, which I plan to change this summer, but I think the actual games/activities use the real replicas. I love all of the wonderful feedback I am getting from Canadian teachers!
