This thematic unit covers houses of many types, including houses throughout history. Students can make dioramas of a Colonial House, a Spanish Mission and a Native American Dwelling. Then they can make their own 3-D house or a house paper bag puppet. The mini-book in this unit is entitled My House and allows the students to learn all about their own house: their address, city, phone number and more.
The stationery is, of course, in the shape of a house as is an art project in which students open doors and windows to reveal their family members. There are vocabulary and picture flash cards of things you will find in a house, and a house cover for their writing book.
Also included is a Reader's Theater version of the Three Little Pigs, complete with script, double-sided stick puppets, and house props! This is the perfect unit for teaching about families as well!
Each page is available as a black & white student reproducible as well as a full color teacher sample!
