This is a rubric that I have my students use when they are self evaluating their writing. There are 9 yes/no questions about their writing and then 3 stars and a wish at the bottom.
Three stars and a wish is for a buddy evaluation. The three stars are three positives about their writing and the wish is one thing they should change or revise about their writing.
This rubric has really helped my students not only improve their writing, but also strengthen their skills as editors and evaluators of writing. My students know that "great" writing includes many things (stars) and there is always things (wishes) to work on. This rubric makes students accountable for good writing. For example, if a student checked no about capitalization. Then the evaluation stops there until the student edits their paper for that. Students are not done if they checked any No's. Partners are also looking for those as they are reading, so if I checked descriptive details, but don't have any in my writing - my partner would ask me to point them out!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching in Florida for four years. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, doing multiple grade levels at once. I work in a Title 1 school with a majority of students coming from poverty stricken homes and various backgrounds. For the past few years I have been working with primarily ELL learners so vocabulary is key. I make many visual aids to help ensure their success.
