This short script on the Social Studies topic "How a Bill Becomes a Law" is meant to involve middle and high school students in reading, rehearsing, and performing a script that reviews and reinforces content knowledge. The script is written so that a whole class can have solo and unison speaking roles.
Reading and rehearsing the script reinforces concepts and vocabulary while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts. Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And--because it is a script--they do not mind reading and re-reading the information. Rosalind Flynn offers this Curriculum-Based Readers Theatre script--one of many she has created with students and teachers across the United States.
