This is an excellent handout to prepare students for a class lecture on comparative advantage or as a reference for students after learning the concept.

The handout gives students a step-by-step approach to finding the comparative advantages of two countries with two different goods. The opportunity cost of each country for each good is calculated. Students will then be led through an analysis on which nation has a comparative advantage in what.

After that follows an intuitive explanation for students to understand comparative advantage on a logical level. See the product preview for an example.

There are two full examples, including calculations, analysis, and alternative explanations.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I specialize in economics enrichment for kids and love showing them how economics is fun and affects their daily lives! I am the author of a children's mystery book that teaches economics, and I am beginning a new position as an adjunct professor of economics for a four-year private college. In the past, I've taught in grades three through six. I'll be developing more products soon, so if there is a particular economic concept you need an activity for, please let me know!
