This activity is designed to help students understand how to add and subtract decimals and introduced negative numbers. It also introduces the procedures for writing a check and filling out a deposit slip. The activity comes with a list of transactions and a set of computer created checks and deposit slips. I would have my students go to a local bank to get a check registar or they could create one in class with the check #, date, name of transaction, deposit, withdrawl and balance. My students loved this "real-life" activity.
