Objective
Students will gain an understanding and appreciation for making and setting goals for themselves and their country. They should gain an understanding of social and global perspective from themselves as an individual as well as the perspectives of others. This unit can be done with all age groups with variation. I have created this to be used in my classroom where I teach advanced Kindergarten students. Younger grades will need more time to complete this unit. I use rotating centers for one day, which allows students the amount of time needed to put their creative talents to work.
This unit only includes the hands-on activities that should be used in retrospect of Black History and the impact of Human Rights activists like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Included
• Writing activity that can be easily modified to appropriately meet all age groups
• Self Portrait Art, which focuses on visual perspective of the individual student as they use an art pencil and a mirror to draw how they see themselves
• Skills Development & Creative Art through paper construction of themselves.
• All templates, Instructions and modified lesson ideas are also included
• Materials can be reproduced and printed at your convenience and modified to suit your needs.
