I Will Survive is an Integrated Science/Language Arts Project which I created for 7th grade. In this project, students research animal adaptations and create a genetically engineered human who will be able to survive in a changed future. (There is no discussion of evolution in this project).
This project can be done individually or in small groups and is designed to take approximately 2 weeks, although I have included ideas for extension.

A PowerPoint Presentation introducing the assignment
A complete lesson plan including Texas TEKS alignment, detailed instructions, timeline, rubrics, extensions and modifications.
A Student Scenario sheet
A Research Guide
An Adaptation Plan

I began my career teaching Biology and Physical Science in High School. I then went on to teach Integrated Curriculum at a Science/Technology Magnet Middle School. In 1999, I moved into the Elementary arena and taught 5th grade science and K-5 Tech Apps. Now I am a Technology Integration Coach.
