This writing menu allows children to choose a writing activity that interests them. Most of the menu choices come with differentiated templates. Just keep a supply of them near the menu and your writing station is always ready to go! Students can also use this menu when they are done with their station work, for extra writing practice. Out of everything I've bought, this is what I'm looking forward to using the most. After downloading this file I realized how much my current center sucks. My writing options were so limited, my I can statements were boring and all because I didn't have the time to create something more enticing for my kids. Well, this is the perfect antidote for sucky writing centers. I visited the sellers web site and she's got some awesome ideas on how to get this center going. Jeanie, my writing menu is not meant to be used as your writing curriculum. On the contrary, it is meant to enhance it. The activities align to common core, but, the children need to be taught narrative, expository, and opinion writing before they can apply these skills in the activities included. The writing station activities are geared toward kindergarten and first grade and contain writing templates. I love your I can write about... menu! Do you have one created for upper elementary? I teach 5th grade and would love to have a menu, but if I buy your menu the kids will complain that it's for little kids. Easily spend $10 for an upper elementary I can write about.... menu.
