This engaging activity can be used as a small group center, whole class review, or individual practice of place value in 10s and 1s. Each of the 24 cards has a whole number with a visual of the amount using base-ten blocks. The students will read the number and then ask for the next number in place value form. For example: The first student reads: “I have 21. Who has 3 tens 8 ones?”
Children each look at their card(s) and decide who has the card with the number that was called out. The person who has that number reads the whole number and asks for the next number in tens and ones place value form. The activity continues in this way until all numbers are identified.
The activity can be started with any card since the last card in the series will loop back to the first card that was read at the beginning of the activity. Once each card has been read, the game can end or start all over again!
SO much more fun than a worksheet!
And at only $2.25, it's much less expensive than the commercial versions.
