This is an activity I created to compliment our anti-bullying lessons and celebrate what makes us different.
This packet was created to be used by teachers in grades K-5. The materials were designed to make modifications easy within your classroom.
I recently completed this activity with my third graders in school and I LOVE LOVE LOVE how the bulletin board turned out. I've gotten so many compliments on the colors and the content. The differentiated pages and templates that are included made it a perfect activity for both.
These pages are designed to guide students through the writing process by completing a writing project inspired by the book, It's OK to be Different by Todd Parr. You can use it with his book or without to simply celebrate what makes us unique.
After editing with the teacher, the students wrote their final copies. I always try to culminate our writing projects with a related art project. We created colorful images in the style of Todd Parr after visiting his website.

Hi Kshoe0321,
Thanks for your purchase. You don't need to use a computer program. I had my kids use Kid Pix to create artwork to go with their writing, but it isn't needed with this product. If you want a similar look, you can get the same effect by having them do a sketch with a marker and then watercoloring it. :) Jodi from www.CFClassroom.com

10.0 This was a fabulous activity to do towards the end of the year with my first graders. They really understood each others differences. The products were amazing! Many staff members stopped to comment on the kids projects! Looking forward to doing it again this year!

Thanks for the great packet and idea! I would love a student writing sample, too. I was wondering when you did the writing, did you have the students focus on one thing that made them different and then add details, or did they list many things that made them unique? Thanks!
