This is an excellent ice-breaker, designed for the first day of classes in undergraduate courses on cultural diversity, multicultural education, and international studies. It works well with secondary students in the context of discussing issues such as bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. It could also work well in the context of a personnel development meeting. The lesson guides you through the process of a webbing exercise and small-group discussion, and lists sets of questions that the teacher/facilitator can use to foster critical thinking, engaging with other learners, learning in contexts, reflecting and acting, and so forth.
