Build your own fractions using ice cream scoops. This is a great minilesson to use after introducing basic fractions. Each student will create their own a cone using 4 ice cream scoops. The students can get creative with their ice cream choices. Have them color each scoop to look like that type of ice cream. Let them cut out the scoops and glue them down above the cone. Last, have them write the fraction amount of each ice cream scoop. For example: ¼ chocolate.
I loved that it was hands-on and made fractions relevant for the students.

Simple, but very cute, fun, and creative! My kids will love it. I will do it this week. I'm reviewing fractions before the end of the year. Thanks for the freebie!
