These are individual pages that students use to document the meanings of 93 idioms and proverbs. There is a space for them to write what they think and idiom or proverb means before they look it up or discuss it. There is also a blank spot underneath for them to draw a picture. Then there is a place for them to write the actual meaning as well as draw a picture. The picture part is not necessary and was used more as a modification for my poor readers and writers.

It was successfully used in a self-contained jr. high reading class. We completed one page per day for a semester. It would also work well in an ESL class or younger students who think very concretely.

It can be used in conjunction with several children's books that demonstrate figurative language (The King who Rained).
