Use If You Give a Cat a Cupcake in guided reading for one week and have your students work on Predictions, Vocabulary, Cause and Effect, Comprehension Questions, and a Story Starter
As a 2nd grade teacher, planning and teaching 3 different reading groups was no easy task. Not to mention the time required to officially write up the plans to please administrators. I think those of you in the same situation will truly benefit from this lesson plan and the others I have created in this series.I copy the pages as a packet to be worked on with me during guided reading, and I then take them up when our time is over each day. The students love to take home their finished, graded packet at the end of the week.
This could also be used for a guided reaidng sub plan!

I just finished my second year of teaching a combined class of grades 4 and 5. I also taught 2nd grade for 5 years on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. We have a large number of high risk students. I previously substitute taught for Richmond City Schools.
