This is a 57 page packet to use in speech therapy to go along with Laura Numeroff's book, "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie." The activities in this packet target some of the most common language goals I have for preschoolers: categorizing, vocabulary, basic concepts, sequencing, functions, WH questions, and associations!
Game board: Open ended, use with any goal! Includes 16 special/extra cards.
Milk & Cookie Associations: 40 Association Cards (20 pairs) with a milk and cookie theme. Option 1: Have students play Memory. Flip over 1 milk & 1 cookie card at a time to try to find items that belong together. Option 2: The SLP picks 2 cards that belong together. Students explain how the items go together, and roll a dice/use the gameboard after each turn.
Vocabulary/Sequencing: There is a sequencing circle (see preview file) with corresponding pictures for students to sequence the story events. Additionally, there are is a set of pictures to play Memory with vocabulary/pictures from the story. There is also a set of Cariboo-size pictures from the story to use to target vocabulary while playing that game!
Categorizing: Sort pictures of healthy vs non healthy foods, and food/drinks we keep in the fridge vs ones we keep in the cabinet/pantry. Pictures are on cookies-- sort the cookies into the appropriate cookie jar!
Basic Concept cards including spatial, size, qualitative, and quantitative concepts (20 concepts total)
Object Function: 32 cards for identifying the function of objects. Use as is, or with the game board & special cards!
Cookie Flip WH Questions: 14 WH Questions relating to the story.
Misc WH Questions: What (16); Where (20); Who (15); When (12); Why (9). Print cookies front to back or make double sided copies of the cookies and the WH questions. Have students use a small spatula (i.e. from a play kitchen) to flip over the cookies and answer the questions. Put the cookies into a bag or 'cookie jar' after they answer each question!
