This unit includes lesson ideas and activities in an immigration study. In the study of immigrants, students create suitcases, "pack" their bags, write a personal account story of an immigrant, dress up like and immigrant, and participate in an Ellis Island Simulation (Coming to America celebration).
Unit includes directions for the Coming to America celebration, rubric for suitcase, rubric for immigrant writing, photos of the celebration in my classroom, family history form, parent letters, volunteer directions for celebration, etc.
Any questions, send me a message. I hope you are able to use this unit as your students study immigrants.
This unit was lacking in quality in relation to the price.I feel that the content could have been expanded upon further. I am somewhat confused at the other comments on here. Perhaps my download was not complete? I don't know.
What a fabuluos unit. It is very practical and thorough. I love all of the literature suggestions and the links are really incredible. This is worth the money for sure! Can't wait to use it!

This is an amazing unit! I used it with my class and the kids learned so much!! They loved traveling to "Ellis Island" and the parents enjoyed dressing their kids up as immigrants and watching them leave for their trip. :) It will definitely be something I will use year after year. My team wants to join in the fun next year. Thanks so much for helping to bring history alive. :)

I just bought this unit yesterday and I love it. I down loaded it it to my ipad and had no problem opening it in Adobe. It looks wonderful. You put so much thought and detail into it and it is going to save me so much time! I had one question though. I need to change a few parts of the parent letter, rubric, etc and was wondering if you have a copy in a format that I could edit. Is there a secure place to give you my email?
Thank you. Sure, no problem. Please email me at tan_lewis@yahoo.com and I will get you the files that you are able to edit.

Like youngcommalynn I was also unable to make majority of this unit readable/printable. Do you mind trying to email it to bcolonna@keuka.edu. Thank You

Hi Mrs. Lewis, I've tried everything I could think of to make this unit readable/printable. I have updated the Adobe Reader. Do you mind trying to email it to me at lyoung@chatham.k12.nc.us? Thank you for your time. Lynn Young
Hi, I am not able to print the immigration unit either. My download also has black smudges and pages that are blank. I am using a Mac because that is what our school provides. Can you try emailing it to me?
Thanks for purchasing the unit. You more than likely need to update your Adobe Reader on your computer. For some reason the later versions of Adobe don't read all of the documents correctly. I would be happy to send you another copy. What is your email address?

Did you get my question about the immigration unit I bought from you. I cannot read it. It has black smudges and pages that don't have anything on it. Can you print it and mail it to me?
Hello,
I checked my past messages and didn't see a previous message. Sorry. I can email it to you, upload it to google docs fo you, or print it and mail it. Whateve works best for you. I apologize. Do you happen to have a Mac? I pulled it up on my PC at home and at school and it was fine. Maybe it is the uploading to TpT?
Please email me and let me know what is easiest for you. tan_lewis@yahoo.com
