The rulers allowed on our state tests are only 6 inches long.. would love to see more objects under this mark.

This is a great lesson! All of the pictures are perfectly sized to measure at 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, or a whole inch. The items are interesting and engaging to the kids.
For extra fun, I told my kids they were employees at a box company and had to measure the products very precisely so the boxes would be the right size. They loved it!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
I started teaching in 1998. I worked as a fifth grade classroom teacher for 4 years, teaching math, English, science, and reading, then taught 3 years of middle school math, reading, and English, and for 6 years I worked as a math resource teacher in grades 2 and 4. I recently became principal of an elementary school.
