Readers can enrich the meaning of a story by reading more into a text. In this minilesson (script), students will be asked to consider the meaning of the book’s title and other details of the story by talking about the meaning behind these things with the members of their book club.

This script would be very useful to a new teacher. It is a good minilesson on an important skill, however, I think calling it a lesson plan is misleading. I expect much more from a true lesson plan than what is in this script.
This is an script of a minilesson rather than an outline of how to conduct the lesson. It would make a good example of modeling for a teacher who isn't sure what to say to the students when modeling reading strategies. Knowing that this is more like a script than a lesson outline makes a difference.
Thanks for your feedback Renee. It's definitely scripted, but teachers can feel free to change the demonstration text if they wish to use a touchstone text other than Journey.
