Creating a sense of personal meaning (aka: text-to-self connections) when reading is essential if a child is going to connect with a book. Therefore, this lesson's script asks readers think about the ideas they connect with in their books by talking with their book clubs to determine why the ideas hold meaning or value to them. Clubs can use a chart to help them track the connections they have with their books.
