Inference is such a tricky skill to master, but these 24 cards can help! Use them orally in small groups, or individually as a writing assignment at a literacy center. Another option is to use one card at a time with the entire class. Students can answer on notebook paper and track the cards they have completed on the included recording sheet. An answer key is also included. In addition there is an inference poster, a cover/label card, and a challenge card that can be used with any other card in the set to extend the activity.

These cards will look best in color, but will also print out fine in grayscale. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring.
These cards are correlated with the following Common Core Standard for grades 4,5, and 6.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.4.1 Refer to details and examples in a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.

I've bought almost all of your products. When I went back into my purchases it was flashing that there was a revision to the product (inference task cards) so I clicked on it and when I did it opened up a window and there were 3 things listed there. It was weird. It showed the task cards, slideshow, and quiz. I now have a flashing sign for a revision for 2 other sets of task cards that I have bought from you. I was just wondering.

I saw the quiz and slideshow under the new download but I can't seem to find it after I saved it. I think I did something wrong. I saw them in 3 seperate pieces but now I only see the cards. HELP!! I was trying to use the cards and the quiz tomorrow as a review.

I already left feedback, but that was before I used the cards. Just wanted to tell you that I used these cards with my 4th grade reading support group and they were OBSESSED with them. Actually, the product did not include student answer sheets because I had originally thought students would answer on notebook paper so they would have room to answer both questions on the card. But since you asked, I just added answer sheets. I would suggest using them only for the first question on each card.

Sorry for the delay in answering, for some reason I did not get my Q&A notifications for the last few days.

Yes, there is! The answer key uses the same chart format as the student recording sheet, so it is easy for students to check. But please be aware that the answer key only covers the first question on each card, not the "Why do you think so" question.
