So you've taught your kiddos about inferring, but how do you know if they're actually doing it? I make these charts for just about all literacy-related learning we do. Kids in our room know that writing about our thinking is just part of what we do every single day. Prior to each inferring mini-lesson, I cut down one of these charts for students to glue onto a blank page of their Thoughtful Logs (reading journals). The charts are perfect scaffolds to help students write about their thinking (metacognition!) and expand on what they are learning. They are perfect for tracking the inferring students do during both independent and guided reading. This set includes 6 different charts. To see more 'action shots' of how I use these charts and Thoughtful Logs in my classroom, please visit my classroom blog: http://lifein4b.blogspot.com If you have questions, please let me know!

I haven't been able to buy anything yet, but plan to buy as soon as I have a few extra dollars. I was really hoping to see more of the papers from your thoughtful logs. I would buy them all!!!!! Please think about offering those. I know it is a lot of work but I just LOVE how you have it all set up.

Hi!

I love that I found a few of your things on here! I think there is an error on the inferring to create new meaning chart, should the first box say, "What you see?"

You need to add more to your offerings:)

Thanks!!!

Molly -
How did I not see that?! I've used that chart for two years and have shared it with many people and you're the first to have noticed it! I will change it first thing when I get to school this morning. I'm working on getting more on here. Sometimes that's a full time job in itself, too! :) Thanks for the watchful eye!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught 4th grade for nine years and made the leap to teaching 6th & 7th grade language arts at our middle school this year. I was coached in the Comprehensive Literacy Model which has totally reshaped my teaching and my students' learning. The literacy model pushes me to grow every single day which means I'm exhausted every single day. :) Teaching is NOT an easy job. We need to work together! Literacy is SO important in our room; in fact, I doubt I'll ever post anything that DOESN'T have to do with literacy in some way. I hope you find some of my 'stuff' rejuvenates your teaching and helps to heighten what your kids are able to do. You'll also notice that in each of my product descriptions, I linked to a page on my classroom blog where I provide a narrative (with pictures) of my lessons and/or how many of my products are used in my own classroom. Hopefully the blog postings and pictures will help you get a better visual for how some of my products might fit into your classroom, and you can picture your own students doing what mine do! Visit our blog regularly and if there is anything you see that you want, let me know, and I'll post it! Our Classroom Blog: http://www.lifein4B.blogspot.com
