This 5th Grade Interactive English Language Arts journal includes everything you need to get your ELA journals going in the right direction. I used a similar version last year in my 4th Grade class and I have been adding things all summer to make it even better! It's in a easy to follow order with the Common Core standards aligned to the vocabulary. Each part of the Common Core (Literature, Informational Text, Foundational Skills, Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language) is broken down to make your life more simplified. This is a 100 page document that provides you with ways to guide your journals daily/weekly. Each time you teach a lesson this journal can be used for note taking and creating new journal entries. Each "I Can" statement for the fifth grade ELA common core is included in a cut out form for students to easily cut and paste into their journals. Each day you cover an "I can" statement use this interactive tool to guide students into a better understanding of the core content and improve their writing year long. Students take vocabulary notes that connect to the "I Can" statement for that day. Then wrap it up by completing 1 of the 11 interactive activities. You can also use the 21 extra foldables to add more interactive activities to your journals! If that isn't enough, turn to the back of the kit and look at the sheet that gives you 10 more ways to make your journals interactive and beneficial. The ELA Common Core vocabulary is included in a teacher friendly guide to make taking notes a snap.
