Use this Smart Notebook file to introduce students to adding and subtracting decimals using Base 10 Blocks.
Once you open the file, check out the attachments tab. I have added the Smart Notebook file and pdf version for the student handout. I give this to students. It is based on the teacher file but with slightly modifications to be more useful to the students. For example, the dice images are not in the student handout. Some practice questions are spread out onto different slides, etc.
If you don't have access to Smart Notebook and would like pdf versions for both, please contact me and I will post them.
This activity has been aligned to Alberta Grade 7 Curriculum - Numbers Outcome 2 (or at least the addition and subtraction portion of that outcome)
Please let me know if there are any errors in the file so I can fix them.

I have been teaching in K-12 classrooms for the past 13 years with a focus on Mathematics and Technology. I am currently working as a Mathematics Lead Teacher Facilitator - working with teachers to help them infuse the new Alberta Program of Studies, using manipulatives, technology, etc. I am constantly offering professional development to teachers within Alberta as part of my current position but also when in a regular classroom.
