Geared toward first grade common core with CVC and CVCe Words!!
Silent E (A Mini-Lesson)---This would be good as review, or one-one one with a helper. Good for a pocket chart lesson. There is a poem as well to help review the Magic E.
CVC and CVCe Sort---Students will sort word cards by CVC or CVCe. There are 24 word cards (words where silent e has been added for example bit and bite). Direction card, sort mats, and recording sheet are included. There is also a recording sheet where students will write a sentence using word cards.
Hocus Pocus---Students will play a card game similar to Rotten Banana, Bang, Crash. The cards are on CVCe words.
(Words with soft g, and soft c were not included in this game due to beginning skill level.) If students can read the word, they get to keep it. If not, it gets returned to the bag, basket, hat (whatever container you choose to use). Watch out for the empty black hats. They mean all your cards get returned. There are 50 CVCe cards, 6 black hats, and 10 other special cards included , Workstation directions are also included.
