This Quick Time movie is a fun way for students to learn and practice past tense irregular verbs. Often students just want to add the –ed to every verb to make it into the simple past. This movie that I made is a great way for students to learn and practice 17 commonly used irregular past tense verbs. I chose classical piano music and a beach theme for this movie. As the music and pictures move through this 4 minute, 36 second movie, the base form of the verb appears first, then a clock appears and counts down approximately 10 seconds for the student to think of the correct irregular past tense verb. For advanced students or for more of a challenge, they would have time to first identify the correct verb and then use it correctly in a brief sentence before the answer appears on the screen. The 17 verbs I chose for this movie are swim, ride, run, fly, eat, write, sit, drive, sing, sleep, read, sell, buy, see, throw, drink and win. Check out the sample images to see some screen shots I took from within this movie. Keep an eye out for written practice exercises and assessments that will soon be in my TpT store for irregular past tense verbs.
