PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

**New and Updated!** Now includes individual pages for each skill so teachers can choose which skills to work on each month OR for those on a paper budget AND I have also added calendars with numbers for students to trace for 2013-2014 :)**

Take your calendar time to a whole new level with this calendar kit! This kit was designed with Kindergarten students in mind, but with the programmable pages at the end of the packet, you could easily adapt it for first grade as well.

Instructions are included for each month of this pack, and the skills progress as the year goes on. Not ready for more skills when the month is over? Just use the programmable pages at the end of the packet and repeat the skills from that month again by adding typing in the month, or use a variety of pages.

Skills included are:
-days of the week (yesterday, today, tomorrow)
-addition
-subtraction
-subitizing with dominoes and dice
-progressive patterning
-graphing
-tally marks
-10 frames
-focus numbers
-number bonds
-temperature
-weather
-money
-calendar skills
-100 grid skills

Meet and exceed common core requirements! There are monthly pages which include a cover sheet, blank calendar page, weather tracker, and daily calendar journal.

**For the calendar pages that include coins: I've added blank circles so that students can write in the value or name of the coins.**

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me!

Be sure to check out the Calendar Time Companion Kit as well.

Great interactive tool to review lots of math skills during calendar. The kids are really attentive and love calendar time. In order to save on paper I laminated a monthly page for each student and also placed it in a page protector. Children use dry erase markers and clipboards to fill out the paper. They really enjoy calendar this way.
Thanks!

OMG!!! Love this! Thank you so much! There is just not enough time in the day to cover all things math that our kinders truly need... I am so excited to now be able to hit on the skills you included in your calendar journal packets! Being able to practice these skills briefly is better than not at all and it will give them exposure to skills they will be covering in first grade. Thank you so much for putting this together :)

I'm beginning my calendar books this week, and I know my students will be so excited. I've been hinting to them for the last several school days that something big and exciting is coming, and they're thrilled! My old set of calendar book pages was dated and worn-out. I love your graphics and all the skills that are included in your packet. It's fabulous, and I can't wait to use them each month!!

How is this set different from your other set?

On  January 17, 2014Growing Kinders answered:
Are you referring to the companion kit? These contain the pages for the calendar book the other is pieces you can use on your bulletin board. You can read what it includes in the description. Let me know if you still have questions.
On  January 11, 2014Teachers Rock (TpT Seller) asked:
In reference to your Jan. 10 response to my question, I would say this IS an error. "Tomorrow is" would actually be incorrect grammar. We should be using the future verb tense, therefore "Tomorrow will be" is correct. (In fact, on pages 9 and 34 you have used "Tomorrow will be", but the other pages have the error.)
Teachers Pay Teachers
On  January 11, 2014Growing Kinders answered:
Phew - you made me think today! It is actually grammatically correct to use either format. I've contacted a a language professor as the University to try to get a clear answer. He says that it is very common and perfectly acceptable to use the present tense to refer to future events: My parents arrive on Thursday, the sale ends tomorrow, we start testing at five o'clock.

Although I do use it as well (which is probably why there are both in the calendar pack), tomorrow will be Sunday does actually sound slightly strange. You could argue that tomorrow already IS Sunday, i.e. that's already been determined. When you have "will" in there it sounds like it hasn't completely been determined, or is depending on some condition. Does that make sense? English is a hard language!! I do think both are perfectly acceptable, but I think "tomorrow is" sounds more natural - just thinking about how we use it in daily language.

If you would like me to change specific pages for you, I will - but, I will change the rest of the pack to be consistent with the "tomorrow is" phrasing. If you could e-mail me the pages that you would like changed, that would be ever so helpful!

Thanks for making me think a little bit today - haha!

You can e-mail me at growingkinders@gmail.com with the page numbers you would like changed :) I will get to it as quickly as I can!

Thanks! Kathleen
On  January 9, 2014Teachers Rock (TpT Seller) asked:
Hi! Could you change the "tomorrow is" to "tomorrow will be"? As in page 38. Thanks so much!
I would say this is an error. "Tomorrow is" would actually be incorrect grammar. We should be using a future verb tense, therefore "will be" is correct.

Hello, I bought this from you and I was wondering if you could change the daily calendar sheet for me. I teach at an American school in Dubai and our school days are Sunday-Thursday. I can change it if you want to just send me the daily sheets for each month, or if you would change it I would really appreciate it. Also, the daily weather calendar is Monday-Friday, if you could change it for me Sunday-Thursday. My email is ashleymaybee@hotmail.com. THank you and I LOVE this product!! On  September 13, 2013mslauj (TpT Seller) asked:
Hi! I love this packet! Just to clarify, the extra pages (the September pages you included for this year) you would just have the students fill out one box a day for the fun with shapes, all about the number, and let's write the number pages, correct? For the days in school (the one where there are numbers 1-20 already there,) are you having the students add in a number each day? Or are they writing only to 20 each day in September? What about the Days in school ten frames page? Is this page meant to be used all year? So, they just add one circle a day? Lastly, with the happy birthday graph, are you graphing ALL the students' birthdays now? Or just coloring it in each month? Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

you would just have the students fill out one box a day for the fun with shapes, all about the number, and let's write the number pages, correct? -- YES. The same skills are included as the daily journal pages (all in one), but this should save some paper. You can do every skill every day, or just pick and choose.

For the days in school (the one where there are numbers 1-20 already there,) are you having the students add in a number each day? - Yes, we add one number each day (it's our growing number line) - the dotted numbers are there up to 20 for extra support, and then they're on their own to write it ;) We start with 1 and count up to the number each day (all the way to the 100th day!)

What about the Days in school ten frames page? -- same thing - just add one dot/color in one square per day. We count by 10s and then count the ones each day. These are both used all year (or at least up until the 100th day).

Lastly, with the happy birthday graph, are you graphing ALL the students' birthdays now? Or just coloring it in each month? -- We will graph the child's birthday as it occurs :)

Hope that answers all of your questions!

I purchased the calender bundle. Quick question....Do you do a sheet a day (with all the different components) or different parts of one sheet each day? How many of those do you do in a month? THANKS so much. I LOVE calendar time now!!!
Teachers Pay Teachers
On  September 11, 2013Growing Kinders answered:
Yes, I do one sheet a day. We do it as a whole group and take it VERY slow in the beginning. If paper is an issue, you could do every day as a whole group (enlarge it or project it on an IWB) or laminate it and use a dry erase marker. I'm also adding a couple of new pages each month that you could use as an alternate if paper is an issue. Hope that helps!

YES - that is how I do it at least :) I am working on updating/adding some pages that will allow a little more flexibility if paper is an issue. You could also laminate a page and use dry erase markers! Let me know if you have other questions!

You only need one kit -- http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Daily-Calendar-Bundle-270449 -- this comes with the red and blue pieces. If you want a different color, then you would have to purchase the pieces separately. http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Its-Calendar-Time-Daily-Calendar-Book-270426 If you are using it in more than one classroom, you will need to purchase additional licenses though. There are not any sales coming up that I know of. Sorry!

The calendar binders really help to keep the kids engaged because they are doing the same thing as you while you are doing it. If paper is an issue, you could have them do it only one day a week or you could laminate the pages and have them use a dry erase marker. Hope that helps! Good luck!

There is the actual calendar page, a weather tracker page, and the daily pages. A day's worth of data/math skills is one page. You would count the number of days that you are in school that month. You wouldn't need pages for the days that you are not in school.
