THis is a week long power point unit to accompany Harcourt Trophies 2nd grade story Johnny Appleseed. It includes word building, vocabulary, background knowledge, unitedstreaming video clips, writing and grammar activities, daily laguage, spelling and a Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? style test review.
I really liked this powerpoint. It was inclusive of so many things: daily language mechanics, suffix work, comprehension, vocabulary work (great set up), and I loved the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire quiz! Thanks for your hard work. Some minor typos...

Jamie, you know I always am impressed with your work! The only thing that was needed with my students was a slide on what frontier meant. Actually, I added a video as well. http://www.learn360.com/ShowVideo.aspx?ID=255297. The students had difficulty naming things found on a frontier on the vocabulary page. The video helped some. There was a Paul Bunyan video here as well that was set during frontier life. I had them actually look for frontier details and exaggerations (a folk tale component)
I have a Master's degree in Elementary Education with a reading certificate. I have taught various subjects and grade over the last 15 years, but have currently been teaching 2nd grade for 6 years.
