This is a document of over 125+ unique and creative journal starters that kids love checking out when they're having a hard time thinking of ideas. Print them out on fun colored cardstock, have the kids help cut them out, then roll around a pencil so they look like spirals. Then, throw them all into a "journal jar" where students can reach one out during writer's workshop when they need a good starter. What happens when they don't like it? Throw it back in and grab a new one! Keeps students engaged, opens their imagination, and gets the creative writing juices flowing!
