A set of six labs using the cheap plastic jumping frogs (see pic on thumbnails). These can be purchased at Oriental Trading, etc. Students must describe the frog and think about the science behind it, find the farthest distance it can jump, compare distances of two different frogs, examine landings of two frogs, check how many jumos to reach a certain distance, and compare its jumping capabilities to an origamu frog they create using an index card. There is also a set of science wrap-up questions at the end as well as lab questions throughout.

I have taught for 16 years in a large, urban, public school district (I have taught in three different schools) and I LOVE it! I taught self-contained, multi-age gifted class for past seven years. Prior to this assignment, I taught regular ed 4th and 5th grades. I am now in an at-risk school teaching 5th grade! I am so lucky to have such great students, past and present!
