Kids love cartoons! One fun way to get them thinking about adding dialogue in their writing is to provide a format that inspires creative thought. This unit consists of 26 printable pages that can be used in a number of ways. There are 10 different cartoons
with no dialogue added. Students add their own dialogue - either by writing sentences at the bottom of the page, or by using word bubbles. I have provided comics in both formats, so you can use the cartoon to meet your plans.
Aside from inspiring higher level thinking skills, the activities can be used to teach the proper use of capitalization and punctuation in sentence form. I have also included 6 free write pages, allowing your students to create their own cartoons, or write a story
about a cartoon they have created.
