A must-have for the busy Speech-Language Pathologist! Show up to your next in-service meeting and impress everyone!
This document contains tons of IEP goal examples on every Speech and Language topic and then lists the *NEW Common Core Standards supporting those goals in grades K-5! There are two documents total:
1. The first is arranged by Common Core Standard (19 pages long)
2. The second is arranged by Topic (language, grammar, fluency, etc.) (20 pages long)
3. Easy-to-read format

*contains over 50 IEP goals
*contains topics on expressive/receptive language, vocabulary, grammar, phonological awareness, pragmatics, and articulation/fluency! *Note- this does not include every standard. Only the ones that are most relevant to speech and language are included.
As speech therapists working in the schools, we are expected to know and write "Standards-based IEPs." This document makes it extremely easy to link back to the standards and ensure you are writing great IEPs. These standards are being assessed during the 2012-2013 school year and full implementation will be during the 2014-2015 school year. Even so, many school districts are already turning to them. Great resource not only for Speech Therapists but also for any Intervention Specialists working on language arts. Be ready and prepared for the new standards with this document!

Have fun communicating!

Would you mind sending me a sample page before I buy so I can look at the the quality of the goals and how they would meet our school district's requirements? Thanks! kbaker93@hotmail.com

Hi and thanks so much for asking! I think it's so important that you know what you're buying! I actually have a preview you can download to see it prior to buying. Just click "Download Preview" on the description page.

Hello. I looked at the preview of the goals. Do you write the adapted standard (what you have on the left) as the annual goal and the items on the right labeled K,1st, etc. as benchmarks? If you incorporate this IEP setup, do you write multiple receptive language annual goals or do you use a blanket receptive language goal and incorporate different benchmarks? Under the new Common Core, I have found I am writing more annual goals to make it all "measurable." I would like to find a way to be compliant with standards and make my goals more simple.

Thanks so much!

Hello and thanks for your question! The items on the right labeled K,1st, etc are the Common Core Standards. When writing IEPs, we need to justify what we are working on with our students. Therefore, I usually write my goal and then provide justification as the standard. For example, if my goal was working on nouns. I would write my goal and benchmarks and then state a justification: "This is affecting progress in the general curriculum because third graders are expected to form and use regular and plural nouns." This falls under standard: Language 3.1b. Hope this helps!

Hi Nicole,

Has your state reviewed your School System with these new goals. Do they meet the intent of the law on how goals should be written? You can email me at brookssy58@gmail.com if you prefer. This is going to save me so much work and searching. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your hard work.

Hi Nicole,
Sorry I didn't know how to "reply back" to your answer to my question about multiple licenses. So since I already bought one license, I can buy additional licenses for $2.50 through my TpT account? Did I get that right?
thanks

Hmm...good question. I know normally you must have one full-priced item in your cart and then you may buy additional licenses. However, if you email TPT ("contact us" at the bottom of this page) they are pretty good at giving you a fair deal. If you tell them that you've already purchased one packet at full price and would like to apply that to multiple licenses, I'm sure they would agree. (You can tell them that it's fine with me!) If that doesn't work, I will contact them myself :-) Thanks so much-I'm so excited that your district is going to use this!

Hello and thank you for your question! 45 states have currently adopted the Common Core as their standards. I believe Virginia is one of the 5 that have not yet adopted them. For more information, check out: http://www.corestandards.org/
Hope this helps!

Hi Nicole!

I saw a link for this product on your blog and was wondering if there was anyway that you could include grade 6 as well. I am an SLP that works at a PK-6 elementary school. Thanks and this looks amazing!

Hi Mayagamez,
Yes-my plan is to get one started for 6th-12th grades. As the lone SLP, I work with K-12 so I'll be starting on it soon. I'll let you know when it's finished! Thanks for checking! :)

There you are! I posted a 6-12 grade document-hope it helps!

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hello there! This is my third year of teaching speech and language skills to grades K-12. Yes, that's right-13 grades and I love every one of them! The best thing about teaching speech and language skills is that you can teach across the entire curriulum. All subjects require students to have good listening and speaking skills and so makes my job super fun AND interesting!
