Children need words that are accessible. They should be somewhere where students can easily see them and use them when needed. Keywords provides students with a collection of words that are used most often in reading and writing.
These words provide a source of support for students during reading and writing activities. Keywords Folders are portable. They are printed out and glued onto file folders. These file folders can be placed at reading or writing centers, used with whole class instruction, or each student can keep them on at his/her desk to use as a visual reference.
There are 4 pages needed to make one file folder, the cover and 3 pages of words. There is a short list set and a long list set of words. There is also a choice of manuscript or standard block print lettering. All 4 word sets include black and white or color pages for a total of 24 pages plus 2 covers ( black and white or color), 3 Teaching Tip pages, Table of Contents, and the cover. This download contains 31 pages.
Choose the set that fits the level of your students. Make a few copies for centers or enough for the entire class. I start with the short list set and then switch half way through the year to the long list set.
