These lessons are intended for use as one-day emergency substitute teacher lesson plans. They can be downloaded by a classroom teacher to keep in a substitute binder or by a substitute teacher to keep handy in your bag of tricks. But they can also be used a lesson at a time. The lessons are based on Is Your Mama a Llama? and are aligned with reading, writing, and math Common Core State Standards. These lessons are written at a kindergarten grade level and include:
- A warm-up: Text-to-self connections
- A reading lesson: Rhyming pairs
- A language arts lesson: Writing animal facts
- A social studies lesson: Types of families
- A science lesson: Guess the animal
- A math lesson: Count and compare

Thanks for saving me so much time! Everyone one groaned at the staff meeting when our Principal directed us to have emergency sub plans on our desk...but not me...I was done prepping this nice packet in no time!
Great time saver for me and a pleasure for the sub.

Thank you!! This will be great for leaving for the sub.. only thing is that the literacy activity may be a little tough (rhyming/reading the word true). Not bad though if the sub will take the time to read through each with the kids.
