PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

See this post for more details: http://theinspiredapple.blogspot.com/2012/09/kindergarten-rti-letter-identification.html

Hey, y’all! This packet can be used in so many different ways! It was initially designed with kindergarten RTI in mind, specifically to meet the needs of students struggling with letter recognition and identification. Additionally, it could be used to support your reading readiness in pre-K or K, for small group letter work activities, for ESL/ELL students, or for remediation in first grade. Of course, please use it to best meet the needs of your students!

Each activity provides students an opportunity to reinforce these reading readiness skills. I’ve also provided a suggestion for organization, a sample lesson plan, and an option to help you keep data!

Thanks so much for your purchase and I hope you and your students benefit from this pack!

This pack meets kindergarten CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RF.K.1d - Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet

For each letter there are 5 different activity mats
- Combination Say It, Find It, Read It, Write it
{plus a blackline master worksheet option and half-sheets assessment based off this mat}
- Letter Display Mat (for recognition, sorting, tracing)
- Letter ID through highlighting
- Letter Naming Fluency
- Letter Writing

Please ask any and all questions before purchasing.

This pack is NOT editable except in the event of error.

I purchased this product in Oct. and am VERY happy with how it has boosted my RtI group (3 kinder kids)! Their identification increased with both upper and lower case and they are now starting to phonetically spell words with confidence, and we haven't even finished the whole alphabet yet. The way I use this pack is: letter tracing book (our county's RtI), intro the letter and the sound, make the letter with play-doh, practice reading and writing the letter, quick assess with previous letters. It works great!

This is one of my favorite resources for kindergarten RtII! One suggestion that I would love to see is the use of a font that is more like how we expect the students to write/form the letters so that they have a proper model. Some of the letters in this font were a little fancy. Overall, this is a great product!

This resource is based on best practice and could be used as a Tier 2 or Tier 3 intervention since it's intended use is for small group or one-on-one instruction. Research says that struggling students benefit from small group instruction :)

I just bought this product and love it! However, I am unable to get the words on the first several pages (explaining how you use it) to show up. I have the latest adobe. Any suggestions? Thank you!
I just figured out how to fix it. Thanks!
Teachers Pay Teachers
On  October 26, 2013Babbling Abby answered:
This is a common issue, usually because you are printing from "preview" instead of from Adobe Reader. Make sure you have the latest Adobe Reader download, too.

If that doesn't work, I would google your specific printer/computer since these issues are usually specific to your printer/computer and not file-related. It could be that you don't have enough memory on your computer.

Another option is to hit Print- then click ADVANCED- Next click PRINT AS IMAGE- then click print.

Someone else suggested this: try downloading to google drive and save in format you need.

If all else fails, open a ticket on TpT. Unfortunately, I'm not a printer guru and this is my exhaustive list of fix-its :P

I blogged about this packet today in my five for friday post. Then I thought I had better check with you first because I did include a picture. I can take the picture out if you would rather. It is a similar picture to the one in your thumbnails so I thought it would be okay.

I did provide a link to your store and the two products I was talking about. Please let me know if you would prefer I took the picture out.

If you want to see here is the link.

Hi Abby!

I am a big fan and am using your Kinder RTI for a remedial Kinder small group in the province of Manitoba (Canada).

I understand that in the U.S. the "Indians" image is not considered offensive, and that your awesome resources are intended to be professional.

However, it is a term that is considered offensive here. I am wondering if the graphic has been adjusted, simply because this is such a fabulous resource and we want to use it! I am certain you would get a LOT more sales from Canada if it has/will be amended. I would/will buy multiple licenses for numerous classes myself (if the update is/was made)!

Also, "Pilgrims" are not something we teach (perhaps in older grades via history), so our children are confused by the "Pilgrims" graphic, as that is so American.

Can you please advise if the above has been changed (I see others made requests but I am unclear if it was done, as the version I bought did not have changes.)

Thanks for taking the time to create great resources and to listen to your followers' requests.

Best wishes!

Hi Abby! I too was going to ask if there was any way that you could adjust the "I" page to remove the Indians picture and word. I work in a school in Canada with a Cree program in the same school. We do not use the word "Indian" . When I showed the Cree teachers and asked about using this page they politely suggested that I not use it. I see other people have asked so perhaps you are going to make an adjustment in general. If not, I can use the suggestions for clip art below...but how would I know if something is for commercial use? Alternatively, I had been looking at editing it myself, but wasn't sure what font you used and if I could find it anywhere to keep things consistent.

Thank you for helping me figure how to download the set correctly. I would like to make a request. The "Indian" picture on the "I" page is a complete misrepresentation of Native Americans and actually made one of my Native American professors very uncomfortable last night. I was wondering if you would be able to change that to something else? I would like to be culturally responsive as my classroom is very diverse. Thanks for considering. Cheers, Ally

On  November 6, 2012Babbling Abby answered:
I'm glad you were able to download your pack correctly! Yay!

The picture of the Indian was never meant to be offensive or culturally irresponsible. It is simply one artist's representation of an Indian, and looks fairly similar to the Indians represented in many American trade books that we ready to our students. It was never my intention to offend you or any Native Americans, and certainly does not represent how I believe a Native American may look today. I have the utmost respect for Native Americans, and their role in our history.

If you can find another graphic that represents the short i letter sound, please email me the graphic and I will replace it on the pages within the packet and send you those pages. The graphic will need to commercial-use approved, since you paid for this product. I will also need a proof of purchase. You can forward me your receipt from TpT when you send the graphic.

If you are unable to find any clip art, you could always white-out the picture by taping a piece of paper over it, and replace it with a graphic you find suitable.

Again, I apologize for offending you and your professor and hope that the content of the packet serves you and your students well.

Have a great day :)

The most common cause of this error is mistakenly opening and printing from "preview" in Adobe. Here's what typically works for most customers:

This is easy to fix, so no worries! If you are a Mac user, you need Adobe Acrobat Reader X. If doing that doesn't work, try these options: - If you're a Mac user, switch browsers (i.e. if you're currently opening in Firefox, try opening in Internet Explorer or Safari) - Make sure you check Adobe under "open with" to verify that that Adobe is the program you're using to open the document and not "preview" - Try opening the document from an entirely different computer (open directly from TpT) Please let me know if any of these option help and, if they don't, you'll have to contact TpT for a refund (sellers don't handle anything money-related). Let me know if there's anything else I can do on my end to make this right! Thanks again for your purchase and have a great day!
