Ready to use substitute lesson plans for a complete school day! Everything is written for you! The activities are engaging and hands on. You can pick and choose which lessons to include in your substitute folder for the day. This kindergarten level kit contains: The programmable information sheets, programmable class schedule, 30 minute reading lesson (Read aloud story with comprehension response in pairs), 30 minute math lesson (counting people, color shape review), 30 minute writing lesson (All About Me Drawing/Story), 30 minute social studies lesson (community helpers), 30 minute art lesson (My Unique Drawing), 15 minute movement and coordination lesson (Acting Out), 15 minute music lesson (Wheels on the Bus) and 15 minute extension lesson (indoor game). The lessons are designed to be presented in a way consistent to the standard cycle of instruction. All you need to do is program (this is an electronic copy so go ahead and type before printing) the class schedule, the class procedures sheet and the content lesson time periods for your specific classroom so the sub knows when to do what. Then place the plans and a class roster in a folder on your desk. That's it! You can keep the plans on your desk for an emergency situation or use them for a scheduled absence. The only materials you need to make sure the sub and students have access to are everyday desk/tub items such as pencils, crayons, scissors, glue, writing paper, construction paper and a white board or chalkboard. So, treat yourself and enjoy your day off! As teachers we all know the truth. It is honestly easier to go ahead and drag yourself into school when sick or cancel the long over due appointment than it is to plan for a substitute during an emergency or planned absent. As a teacher, you have an enormous amount work to do and content to cover. In addition, those of you working as subs, have the daunting responsibility of reporting into a brand new job each day without specific classroom information. These lesson plans were written for regular primary/elementary classrooms and substitute teachers.
First grade day 1, first grade day 2 second grade, third grade and K-3 Spanish substitute lesson plans are also available on TpT.

This is good for the beginning of the year. You should make one for each season that way there is something appropriate for each time of year.

Thank you for this wonderful sub plan. I will leave it on my classroom door in a sub folder. Now I will never have to plan for an emergency sub. It was very helpful because it includes self-contained, age-appropriate lessons. I don't have to ask the sub to search for anything in the classroom - which is a blessing.

As mentioned, it is often easier to drag yourself into work when sick than to write lesson plans for the sub. When my son was in a car accident and I had to leave immediately, I did not have the choice to drag myself into work or the time to write lesson plans. These plans are excellent "just-in-case plans" for any substitute to pick up and use. They require no special materials or preparation and cover all kindergarten level subject areas.

It was great stuff and very helpful...most sub folders are filled with busy work that has very little value...this was quite different...the activities are fun and I think the kids would enjoy and profit from them...

This is the BEST! We need a second day and a third day, PLEASE! I had an emergency - No digging around for everything - Shannon keeps it simple with things that are in every classroom. She even includes the story you'll read! WONDERFUL - Just need more of these!

I love the secure feeling of having lesson plans in place for when I have to be absent. This was so easy to use....just type in my classroom information. I also found the activities for the different subjects to be age appropriate and fun for the students.
