This file will give your students extra practice reading and sorting words from 16 common short vowel word families.

Students will cut out pictures and words from two common short vowel word families. They will sort the pictures and words into the correct word family. They will also read the words to match the word to the correct picture.

These practice activities could be used as morning work, classwork, or homework; they could also be used during literacy centers, literacy stations, or during word work.

Word families include the following:
-at, -op, -an, -it, -ap, -ot, -am,
-ox, -ig, -un, -in, -og, -ing, -et,
-ug, and -ell.
