This 98-page document includes several resources kindergarten teachers can use to supplement their writing instruction. It includes:
• Graphic Organizers
Reproducible sheets are provided to help children think through their ideas before and during independent writing times.
• Toys That Teach
In this section, I share ideas for how to use several common toys to introduce and review writing concepts, such as story structure, details, and revision. Because the lessons are hands-on demonstrations, using familiar and playful objects, the children connect and remember.
• Words for Writers
These sheets are great for writing notebooks and can also be used as posters to teach from during minilessons. The goal of these sheets is to provide children with resources that encourage independent spelling behaviors during writing workshop.
• Writing Posters
The documents in this section are best when enlarged to poster-size, but can also be used on a document camera and then displayed in acrylic frames on team tables for the children to access when writing. The posters address topics such as punctuation, writing genres, "Super Sounds," "The Parts of a Writer," inspirational words from past writers, and more.
• Writing Awards
It's important to recognize the efforts of our emerging writers. There are many ways to celebrate writers. These awards provide a colorful and tangible way to say, "Wow... you did something amazing!"

I am so excited to find your store! I have several items in my cart already!!! Question, are many of the things in the Kindergarten writing kit and First grade writing kits the same? Hi lesliemm,
The "Kindergarten Writing Tools" aren't units of study, but they are tools to support teachers and students during the teaching of writing. For example, there are charts and resources that display different types of punctuation, the different genres of writing expected by the Common Core State Standards, spelling tips, "super sounds", etc. The sheets are designed to encourage independence in young writers and many of the resources would be great inside a writing notebook. There's also a section of awards for students that recognize qualities of good writing such as details, strong beginnings, using emotions, etc., all of which are hallmarks of the writing expected in the Common Core. The "Toys to Teach" section does include lessons on how to use toys to introduce writing concepts and those would support the CCSS as well. Please know, though, that this isn't a "Units of Study" item.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE
