The Writing Workshop I created is partly based on the book, Teaching Writing in Kindergarten by Randee Bergen. After reading the book, I wanted to incorporate more than just writing during workshop, so I broke my class into 5 groups. Each day, 3 groups would be writing; 1 group would be doing an independent sight word activity; and 1 group would be doing handwriting with my assistant. I have created a lesson plan making it easy to coordinate writing workshop in your classroom. This includes ideas for sight word activities, handwriting instruction, mini-lessons and areas to focus your instruction throughout the year. All the items listed below are resources I use for my writing workshop.
