This is a very simple lab activity that reinforces a student's knowledge of leaf structure and function, and how the leaf anatomy relates to photosynthesis.
Purpose:
1. To observe the arrangement of leaves on living braches of various plants.
2. To find, draw, and describe the various cell types of a dicot leaf in a prepared slide.
3. To compare a cross section of a dicot leaf to the cross section of a monocot leaf.
Materials: Stems with Leaves from a variety of different plants, Prepared slide of the cross section of dicot leaf, Prepared slide of the cross section of a monocot leaf, Microscope
Your download will include a lab that is ready to copied and passed out to your students. It will include Title, Introduction, Purpose, Materials, Procedure, Follow Up Questions, Student Data Pages, and Answers to all questions.
The handouts will allow you to choose whether to have your students write their own lab reports, or they can use the enclosed student data pages. You will also receive both an editable Word document as well as a pdf form of the lab.

Science Rules (TpT Seller)
Excellent lab using direct observation of nature--both macro and micro observation skills applied, differences in the classes: monocots and dicots; excellent lab to reinforce with classification. As usual--everything you need is included--no guess work, materials, methods, student work and teacher prep. Highly recommend.
