This is a very simple lab activity that reinforces a student's knowledge of leaf structure and function, and how the leaf anatomy relates to photosynthesis.
Purpose:
1. To observe the arrangement of leaves on living braches of various plants.
2. To find, draw, and describe the various cell types of a dicot leaf in a prepared slide.
3. To compare a cross section of a dicot leaf to the cross section of a monocot leaf.
Materials: Stems with Leaves from a variety of different plants, Prepared slide of the cross section of dicot leaf, Prepared slide of the cross section of a monocot leaf, Microscope
