This is a Power Point introducing the landforms to students in a very visual way. Each landform has a few beautiful photographs and a definition to help students identify them. I use this as the start of each lesson, so that students immediately have a picture of the landform. They love the special effects I used, too. We click through this presentation as a review as well, when it is quiz and test time.

I was disappointed in that only a few landforms were identified. Some frames did not make sense to me.

I made this powerpoint according to my district's 2nd and 3rd grade requirements for social studies. I've also used this powerpoint with my older ESL students, to give them background knowledge. I'm sorry if these landforms weren't enough for you. If you have a specific question about one of the slides, please email me at mdw3437@yahoo.com and I'd be happy to explain what to do. I overlay frames so that they fade in and out; this sometimes can be confusing. I'd be happy to help you with that.

It was a great start for what I needed. I plan to add several more terms to it since I teach fifth grade and we have a few more. It was great to download it and use the next day. It was very convenient!

I designed this for my 2nd graders a few years back, and these are the landforms they had to know: continent, ocean, river, lake, plain, mountain, valley, peninsula, island. Hope this helps. :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching since 2000. I taught sheltered 6th grade in a low-income district near Chicago for 4 years, and 3rd and 4th grade for two years. I also taught 2nd and 3rd grade summer school. I earned National Board Certification in 2008. I currently work as an ESL/ELL specialist teacher for K-5. I do both small group (pull-out) teaching as well as co-teaching in regular classrooms.
