I have designed this unit to use at the beginning of the year to review good listening behaviors with my students. The unit includes an original story written by me entitled "Monster School." The story follows two monsters, Lanie who is a Lovable Listener and Louie, who is a Lousy Listener. There are several extension activities for students to complete independently or as a class. You can also use these materials to create anchor charts to refer to throughout the year. At the end of the unit is a Lovable Listeners Pledge for your students to sign and display in the classroom. This will be a good refresher for my students at this time of the year AND I'll enjoy using it in the fall to introduce and model good listening behaviours. Thank you!

I'm debating on not waiting until next year to use this. After this week, my students need a review on what it means to be a good listener. This is very cute!!

Too cute! I am using this as a review of expectations when the students return after the holiday break. Could I get the "Lovable Listener Pledge" in color to print and post??
I have seven years' experience (including both public and private schools). I have taught first grade for one year, second grade for four years, and fifth grade for one year. I am back in first grade this year and loving it!!
