In Spanish!
Your students will become familiar with coins by first making stick puppets for the penny, nickel, dime and quarter. (These patterns can also be used as mini-book covers to create coin writing books!) All the information is included about each coin: who is on the front (obverse) and what is on the back (reverse).
Section two of this download consists of flip books for counting: Counting by one with pennies, by five with nickels, by ten with dimes and by twenty-five with quarters. The entire "flip book" for each coin is on one piece of paper which saves on photocopies!
The third section of this download deals with the concept of "counting on" and showing various ways to make a certain quantity. For example, for the "25 cents" booklet your students will discover that "2 dimes and 1 nickel = twenty-five cents." They then flip up the picture of the coins to reveal different coins. They then see that "1 dime, 2 nickels and 5 pennies = twenty-five cents." This continues with 1 dime and 3 nickels, 2 dimes and 5 pennies and 1 quarter to give them five different ways to make 25 cents. They can practice counting on to see if they can add up the coins correctly. There are flip books for various amounts.
We also include a blank flip book and a page of reproducible coins so that the students can create their oqn booklets. For example, have them show you how many different ways they can make $1.00.
All pages are available as black & white student reproducibles as well as full color teacher samples.
