Beginning Latin students often have trouble knowing when to supply a personal pronoun in a Latin translation. This flowchart will help students learn the process for deciding when a pronoun is needed. It reinforces the habit of beginning with the predicate, which in Latin sentences is usually at the end. This habit is important, since English speakers will naturally want to begin at the beginning of a sentence, which leads to errors. Encourage students to keep it at hand when translating. It is especially good for students who think graphically.

I have taught Latin to homeschoolers since 2006, both in classroom situations and as a private tutor. I use Wheelock's Latin for late middle school and above. I use Matin Latin for younger students.
