PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This word wall contains 47 sport words, all illustrated, to help students acquire more French vocabulary. It has been updated to include all the sports from the Winter Olympics. The Olympic sports have been grouped together at the end of the file for easy access. The Olympic sports that had already been included in the general sports word wall are still there in the general list, so there are some repeats. As well some sports which are commonly known in Canada as "le hockey" and "la planche à neige" are listed in the Olympic list as "le hockey sur glace" and "le surf des neiges" in keeping with the official Olympic names.

Several vocabulary words related to hockey especially are included. All words are also listed with articles so that students can easily understand whether to use feminine, masculine or plural agreements when using these new words in sentences. 2 versions of the word wall are included, one with smaller font and 6 words per page and another with larger font and 3 words per page.

Note: This file was originally created using Canadian French, where le soccer, la planche à neige, le ballon-panier, le ballon-vollant and la balle-molle are used. The following words have been added to reflect usage in France: le foot, le snowboard, le basket-ball, le volley-ball and le softball.

On  February 6, 2014,  Karli L. said:
Le soccer is not french. Neither is la balle-moulle nor le ballon-panier. I've been a student of french, lived in France, and now teach the language and never have I ever heard a native speaker use those terms. They would be appalled to hear le soccer instead le foot. I should have scanned this better, not worth three dollars.
On  February 6, 2014Ms Joanne answered:
These terms are used in Quebec (it is balle-molle, not moulle). I remember I was very surprised when I went to France and heard the term "le foot" which is not really used in Montreal where I grew up and played soccer. I have updated the product to include the terms used in France so that buyers can use the terms they prefer. Thank you for your feedback.
