Let's Go Shopping is an independent math center designed to give students practice in recognizing pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, as well as giving students the opportunity to practice adding coins. The files consists of four pages: a cover sheet, a student direction sheet, a sheet of cards with pictures of objects and their prices (none over 99 cents), and a printable worksheet that supports the center. To use the center, students draw a picture of an object out of a bag. They write the name of the object on the worksheet, along with the price for the object. Then they draw the coins needed to buy the object.

I have taught in public schools for 15 years. I have experience in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade, but have also worked with children in K, 4th, and 5th. I spent two years teaching a bilingual class, and four teaching ESL. Two evenings a week, I teach as an adjunct professor at the local university; working with pre-service teachers and teachers continuing their education on how to incorporate second language strategies into their classroom instruction.
