Do you want to teach your students how to identify basic fractions AND incorporate a fun Fall activity? Then, this download is for you! Included in this download is all the materials/templates you will need to create your own fraction turkeys.
The only part not included is the "wattle". To create, I just cut out a wattle-like shape out of red paper for my Turkey! I hope you and your students enjoy!

I am confused on how the students get how many feathers to color what. Do they roll a dice to color the feathers a certain color? Do they just color whatever color they want?

Hi! When I had my students complete the activity, they were allowed to choose how many feathers they wanted to color for each different color. Just to ensure that they created several fractions, I told them they needed to use at least 3 different colors. Of course, you can adapt this to fit your classroom needs. I hope this helps! -Becky :)

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Subject Area:

This is my 10th year teaching 4th grade. I'm lucky enough to work at the same elementary school I attended as a student. My main goal as a teacher is to create a safe environment where my students know they are respected and able to be themselves. I love to be creative and am always looking for new inspiration.
