This little 12 page mini-bundle can be used to help students become cognizant of how familiar they are with a vocabulary word. It is a great formative assessment tool for teachers once the levels are taught and understood by the kiddos. :) This little packet includes a poster (BW and color), printable Scrabble Tiles to make word level response sticks, printables for a word study book to use with any story or content area reading, and printables to explicitly teach students about the different levels. :) I like to use this as a quick formative assessment when I introduce new vocabulary words to see how well students know them out of the gates! Of course, I used to have them hold up their fingers, and now we have a fun new prop! I fervently believe that the more strategic students are about their learning and the more aware they are of their own current state of knowledge, the better equipped they are to extend their learning or search for answers.
This resource really helped me, it's the perfect complement to any reading program/guided reading. Your ideas are so easy to use and implement yet so much fun.

This works great for new vocabulary words in 3rd grade! We use the different levels for all areas of learning in the classroom.
This is a great product, especially with vocabulary being such a key element. I wish the 'example' and non-example' blocks had been on the same page so kiddos could make that connection more easily. Other than that small item (which certainly won't stop me using the product) it's super!
I used a similar type activity previously. I can't wait to set these up and use them next year.

I love this! I tried to come up with something on my own, but this is even better!
I do have one question, I would like to use the title page as part of a bulletin board. Would it be possible to get it without a name on the pencil for this purpose?
